Club Song

To the Tune of Yankee Doodle Dandy

We’re a happy team at Hadfield
We’re the Mighty Fighting Hawks.
We love our Club, and we play to win,
Riding the bumps with a grin (at Hadfield).
Come what may, you’ll find us striving
Team work is the thing that counts
One for all and all for one
Is the way we play at Hadfield.
We are the Mighty Fighting Hawks.

The Hadfield Community Youth Club was formed in 1961. The club was based at Reddish Reserve and had a tin shed and a tent as its social and changing rooms. Games were also played at North Park Primary School and Hadfield High School with the players changing into their football gear over the road in South Street in Roy McKerchar’s garage. Later in the same year the players got changed in a tent erected at the High school as it was considered too dangerous for the kids to cross the road in their footy boots.

The youth club formed the Hadfield Football Club in 1971 and changed its jumper from green and gold to the Hawthorn club jumper.
